Although I’m officially a medical doctor, I prefer the title, ‘Doctor of Technology’. I have always loved sharing my born passion for technology. Friends, family, and colleagues, strangers – whoever will listen! So in 2003 I decided to do it for a living. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Today, when I am not busy sailing the Urban ship, I am a technology radio commentator and… are you ready for this? A Salsa and Latin dancing exhibitionist!

With a degree in Business Marketing and 14 years’ experience in technology design, construction and operations, I drive Urban’s business efficiency and new Design & Construct (D&C) portfolio opportunities.

Is my role dynamic? Absolutely, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When I’m not at the office, I love to spend time with my family, contribute to my Hi-Fi blog, listen to music and keep healthy with Pilates.

I create the technology drawings and schedules for client projects, assist with residential estimating and coordinate all our service bookings.

Although my role is very diverse, I especially enjoy the challenge of transforming short written briefs into fully documented technology packages.

At the end of my work day, I admittedly love to escape the screens, systems and switches… in favour of a real, paper-based novel! My guilty pleasure!

I am a Technology Estimator with over eight years’ experience in technical sales, marketing and design within the AV space.

Although I work in technical sales, I have a few surprise qualifications up my sleeve. A Diploma of Sports Marketing, a Certificate IV in Professional Writing & Editing, a Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language… and very soon, an MBA too!

I love watching and participating in most sports, especially golf. I show up at the golf course most weekends – even though I know another inevitable 3-putt is just around the corner.

As one of the original Urban crew, I have been fortunate to experience the constant evolution of technology first-hand.

When I was young I was always fascinated by magic. And beautifully designed  technology really is… just like magic! So although I never did earn my Masters in Magic, my IT and business qualifications make Urban Intelligence the perfect place for me!

Otherwise known as the resident grammar detective, I spend most of my days writing and editing content. Brochures, newsletters, email campaigns, blog articles – you name it.

As a seasoned marketing professional, I am passionate (okay, more like obsessive) about delivering a consistent voice and authentic personality for the Urban Intelligence brand.

Senior Technicians & Programmers

I have been programming and commissioning home automation systems for Urban Intelligence clients since 2011. And in that time I have been fortunate to work in some of Australia’s most incredible homes and properties.

When I am not programming, I transform into a budding guitar player – and a ‘Killer Sudoku’ puzzle fanatic!

When people ask me what I do, my answer is simple: I fix things!

Since 2005, I have fixed countless issues for our clients – with no two days ever being the same. I am constantly challenged and rewarded.

When I am not fixing things, I love to run long distances. I have already run one marathon and plan to do more. What else am I going to do with the 12 pairs of running shoes I have at home?

Cameron Betts

I joined Urban Intelligence way back in 2004. As an A-grade electrician and qualified programmer, I’m known far and wide as the resident CBus and Paradox guru.

And when I am not putting out electrical fires (just kidding!), I am putting out country ones… as Third Lieutenant at my local Badger Creek CFA brigade.

Gerrard Jenner

After four years in AV control system programming, I joined Urban Intelligence in March 2015. I’m responsible for creating tailored solutions for our clients – and to ultimately make their lives easier.

When I am not configuring and programming equipment, I play lots and lots of mini-golf! All vacation plans I make must include a tour of local mini-golf courses!

Finance & Support

Working at Urban is unlike anything else. Its vibrant and nimble culture allows me to steer the business’s financial vision with true flexibility. Change is easy to implement. And goals are a constantly moving target.

Having worked in China in the 90s, I witnessed the huge impact of political change on lives and businesses. And today, the widespread impact of technology is just as significant. It’s an honour to be a part of the transformation – yet again.

I joined Urban Intelligence in 2012 to oversee the operational accounts and finance of the company.

If anyone tries to tell you that accounting is a dull profession, chances are they have not worked at Urban Intelligence. I feel so fortunate to practise my skills while experiencing and engaging with vibrant technology every day.

But alas, accounting is not my only credential. I am also a proud kite-flying pro!

Yen Pham

I have been managing the purchasing and invoicing activities at Urban since 2012. My role is very autonomous so I am always kept on my toes with a million things to do. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Once a year, however, I take my busy toes on a plane… on a much-needed overseas holiday. That’s my interpretation of work-life balance!

Project & Service Management

David Cass

David Cass

I joined Urban Intelligence in 2011 as the technical service front-man – managing warranties, running projects and generally keeping clients happy.

Although I am an Electronic Control Systems Engineer, don’t be fooled! I once had a flower farm in Africa. I’m a Reiki Master. And I recently qualified in Genome Stem Cell DNA Healing – just don’t ask me what that is!

With over 20 years’ industry experience , I manage many of our clients’ major projects.

I joined Urban in 2011, and always enjoy delivering solutions that exceed our clients’ expectations. We meet time and budget goals without question – but also go the extra mile in so many ways.

After hours and on weekends, you’ll most likely find me practising Karate moves… or attempting some risky dirt bike riding stunts!

As the most recent addition to the Urban team, I feel inspired by their new way of thinking. With a background in AV and broadcast, I also value working in an environment that adopts a more holistic approach to technology.

But technology is not my only passion. I also love footy, loud music – and degustation, fancy-pants food. (Just not all at once!)
